Green Planet Catering Invited to Speak to National Convention Executives - Washington DC

RALEIGH CONVENTION EXECS LEAD ACME'S NATIONAL SEMINAR ON SUSTAINABLE MEETINGS

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS EFFECTIVE SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES IN RALEIGH AND NATION

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Sustainable meetings are within the reach of conference planners everywhere, according to executives from the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Raleigh Convention Center.  The industry veterans will lead a discussion of best practices at the annual meeting of the Association of Convention Bureaus and Convention Center Sales and Marketing Executives (ACME), Feb. 23-24 in Washington DC.

"The Green View" will feature experts and their perspectives in the engaging style of a daytime TV talk show.  Hosting the presentation will be Laurie Okun of the Raleigh Convention Center, one of seven LEED certified centers in the country.  Kumi Anzalone, of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, will contribute as a panelist.  "The Green View" will also feature Green Planet Catering (a green caterer), meeting planner and marketing exec.

"The real stars of the show, however, will be the ideas we've gathered from around the country," says Okun.  "Every meeting center has the ability to offer more sustainable options on some level.  Our presentation will focus on how to put those packages together, make them work for clients and make them work for the bottom line."

Organizers say interest in sustainable meetings remains strong despite a challenging economy.  "Sustainability is about planning and acting with long term interests in mind," says Anzalone.  "Smart organizations always prefer to think long term."

"The Green View" kicks off at 9:45am on Wed., Feb. 24 as part of the high profile ACME convention at The Walter E. Washington Convention Center.  For more information, please visit www.raleighconvention.com or www.visitraleigh.com.  To speak with the seminar's organizers, please contact Ryan Smith, rsmith@visitraleigh.com.
